Romanticism of black Brazilians
Romanticize: to think about, describe, or view something in an idealized, unrealistic way that makes it seem better, more glamorous, or more exciting than it actually is; to talk about something in a way that makes it sound better than it really is, or to believe that something is better than it really is.
Idealizing reality: Putting on "rose-colored glasses" to focus only on positive traits while ignoring flaws, hardships, or boring details.
Fictionalizing the past: Remembering or portraying past eras, events, or lifestyles as simpler or more heroic than they truly were.

Capoeira
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of fight, dance, acrobatics, and music. Enslaved black Brazilians developed the dance during the colonial era. They disguised the martial arts as a dance so practitioners could safely practice self-defense against captors. After independence, the Brazilian government outlawed the practice until revival efforts in the 1920s and 1930s. Capoeira is recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
White Brazilians in the Rocinha favela of Rio De Janeiro perform capoeira multiple times a day for tourists. At the end of their performance, they retrieve credit card readers from their pockets and walk through the crowd soliciting tips through Pix, credit/debit, and cash.
